One major criticism of the Oculus Rift has been the inability to purchase replacement touch controllers separately, forcing users who have damages their controllers to repurchase the whole Oculus Touch kit.

Now Oculus has started selling individual Touch controllers on their online store, allowing replacement controllers to be purchased individually for £69, which is a lot more affordable than the £99 complete Oculus Touch kit. The main problem here is that the more expensive Oculus Touch kit may offer some users better value because it includes a second controller and an additional Oculus Sensor (costs £59 on its own), which can be used to give users more accurate 360-degree tracking.

While it is nice to see Oculus selling left and right touch controllers separately, it would have been nice to see a lower overall price tag for these additional controllers, as the price of a single controller is currently around 70% of the cost of a kit with two controllers and an extra Oculus Sensor. This pricing structure doesn’t offer users a great value proposition.

All new Oculus Rift headsets ship with a pair of Touch controllers and two Sensor towers, leaving users with no need to buy a single controller unless they need to replacement. Do you know anyone who has punched a wall in VR?
