Valve has a Steam Controller 2 in the works!

A successor to Valve’s Steam controller is in the works – Leaker claims

According to Brad Lynch, Valve is working on a successor to its iconic Steam Controller. This new controller has the codename “Ibex”, and Valve is reportedly getting ready to mass-produce this new gamepad.

While Valve’s original Steam Controller wasn’t a mainstream hit, it still has a cult following. Its customisable controls and touchpads make it perfect for playing games that are ill-suited to traditional controllers, and its design inspired what would become Valve’s Steam Deck.

Our guess is that Valve’s second-generation gamepad will offer users the same input options as its Steam Deck handheld. It could pair standard Xbox-style controls with two trackpads, gyro support, and back buttons, giving Valve’s new controller several features that other gamepads lack.

Valve is also reportedly working on a standalone VR headset called “Deckard.” This headset will have its own custom control solution called “Roy.” This headset may compete with solutions from companies like Meta. Currently, it is unknown how this headset will work or if it will be compatible with Steam’s PCVR games. If it is, Valve’s new headset could be the first standalone VR device to support Half-Life Alyx.
