Valve Steam Controller unboxing video hints at imminent launch
Valve “secretly” uploads a Steam Controller unboxing to Steam
It looks like Valve will soon be ready to launch its new Steam Controller. A new unboxing video for the controller has been uploaded to Steam, and while it is currently unwatchable, it implies that Valve will either open pre-orders or launch the product very soon.
Brad Lynch, who leaked the Steam Controller ahead of its official reveal, has stated that the controller will “launch very soon”. Currently, the pricing of Valve’s new Steam controller is unknown.
Valve’s new Steam controller is very similar to the controller that’s integrated into Valve’s Steam Deck. The controller has two thumbsticks, two trackpads, a d-pad, and XYAB buttons. It also has L1, R1, L2, and R2 buttons alongside configurable back buttons and “grip-enabled gyro”.

When Valve unveiled its Steam controller, we expected it to launch alongside Valve’s new Steam Machine. However, the global RAM shortage has forced Valve to delay its Steam Machine and Steam Frame VR headset. This may have forced Valve to reconsider its Steam controller launch plans, pushing its launch ahead of its other new products. Since this product doesn’t require RAM, its launch does not need to be affected by the AI-fueled global memory crisis.
