ADATA’s working with Gigabyte and MSI to deliver lightning-fast 8400MHz DDR5 memory  

ADATA has teamed up with Gigabyte and MSI to help them prepare for the incoming DDR5 era, hoping to guarantee high levels of overclocking potential with their modules as well as both high frequency and high capacity module options. 

DDR5 memory will be transformative for the memory market, offering consumers higher potential frequencies, lower power consumption levels, and increased stability through the standardisation of ECC (error-correcting code) support on all modules. DDR5 will be faster, more stable and more efficient, a win-win-win situation for hardware enthusiasts. 

Through their work with Gigabyte and MSI, ADATA is testing their DDR5 modules on the “latest Intel platforms”, ensuring that the company will offer consumer DDR5 compatible memory when DDR5 compatible motherboards and CPUs become available. This unknown Intel CPU platform is likely an early incarnation of Intel’s 12th Generation Alder Lake platform. 

With DDR5 memory, PC builders will soon be able to gain access to more memory bandwidth per CPU core, finally allowing DRAM to counter the core count explosion that desktop processors have seen in recent years. This should allow future PCs to make more effective use of higher core counts, as bandwidth-based performance limitations will be greatly diminished. 

ADATA plans to deliver DDR5 memory modules with speeds of up to 8400 MT/s (8400MHz) and capacities of up to 64GB. When compares to today’s mainstream 3200MHz DDR4 memory modules, these speeds are insane, especially after considering DDR5’s other benefits.
