Expect DRAM and SSD pricing to increase within weeks

Expect SSD and DRAM price increases to arrive soon

Unfortunately, we can confirm that PC enthusiasts can expect to see DRAM and SSD price increases over the coming weeks. These price increases come thanks to shortages of both DRAM and NAND memory. These shortages have already seen memory manufacturers (like Micron) increase their DRAM and NAND pricing.

SSD pricing in the UK and Europe is due to increase as early as next week, and DRAM price increases are expected at the beginning of next month. These price increases are not manufacturer-specific. All manufacturers are impacted by DRAM and NAND price increases. Sadly, these increases will soon be passed on to consumers. We expect pricing increases of up to 10% for SSDs.

If you want more DRAM or SSD storage, you should consider buying it now. SSD and DRAM pricing are unlikely to decrease again anytime soon.

The growing demand for AI products is seeing demand for HBM memory grow significantly. This year has also seen growing demand for new smartphones, further increasing demand for DRAM and NAND flash memory. Additionally, growth in the server market has also put pressure on DDR5 DRAM and NAND memory supply. All of these forces are causing a supply shortfall, raising prices.

The memory market has a cyclic nature. When demand rises, prices increase, and DRAM/NAND producers increase memory production. When supply outstrips demand, prices fall, and memory producers slow their memory production. Now, demand is high and prices are rising. As prices rise, memory production will (eventually) increase, and the cycle will start anew.
