MSI has announced that all of their Z390 motherboards now support JEDEC’s new 2048×8 DDR4 memory standard, which can be used to create 32GB modules.

This support comes in the form of new BIOS updates, enabling support on all Z390 mainboards, allowing 4-DIMM motherboards to support up to 128GB of DDR4 memory. New BIOS files are available to download for MSI’s Z390 MEG, MPG, MAG or PRO motherboards today. At this time it is unknown if this support will be added to MSI’s other Intel 300-series motherboards, or if similar functionality is coming to their AM4 series mainboards.

With this announcement, MSI also focused on their “exclusive DDR4 Boost” technology and their “optimized layout” on Z390 mainboards, factors that are designed to increase memory compatibility on the company’s latest designs.

Today, MSI is proud to announce the great achievement as the first motherboard vendor supporting the latest JEDEC standard memory with MSI Z390 motherboards.

The latest JEDEC standard 2048×8 DDR4 memory can achieve up to 32GB capacity in one single DIMM, which is different from not some other rare DIMM in special pin define for dedicate models. All the MSI Z390 motherboards with the latest BIOS just passed the strict memory test and that means you can set up an incredible 128GB DDR4 memory in your gaming rig with all the MSI Z390 4-DIMMs motherboards.

At this time it is unknown when we will start seeing new 32GB DDR4 modules hit store shelves, though we expect to start seeing high-capacity DDR4 memory modules at CES 2019, which starts next week.
