Samsung is set to increase DRAM output moving in 2018

A report from ET News has stated that Samsung has plans to increase their DRAM output moving into 2018, with plans to convert part of their Hwasung Plant to DRAM production and dedicate the second floor of their new Pyeongtaek plant to DRAM production entirely.

Samsung’s Hwasung plant is set to begin mass production in Q1 2018, with Samsung’s larger Pyeongtaek facility being set to start production in Q3 2018.

At this time memory prices are expected to continue to rise moving into 2018, though this increase in productivity from Samsung leaves many hopeful that DRAM priced will start to decrease by the end of 2018, though this depends on how quickly these new production lines can become operational.

Companies like SK Hynix and Micron are also planning to increase their DRAM production, though many of these facilities are not expected to be operational within the next year due to the sheer scale of these projects and the problems associated with building large clean rooms.
