V-Color adds OLED screens onto its DDR5 memory DIMMs

Has the “adding screens to PC hardware” trend reached its peak?

One of the latest PC gaming trends is adding an OLED or LCD screen to every conceivable piece of PC hardware. We have PC cases with built-in screens, CPU liquid cooling solutions, motherboards, and even graphics cards. Now, V-Color has added an OLED screen to its newest DDR5 memory modules.

Like other products with OLED screens, V-Color’s new XFinity+ memory modules can be used to display real-time system information, providing users with an extra layer of customisation. Furthermore, this screen can be controlled with “no additional connectors or cables required”. However, V-Color have noted that this technology was developed alongside the GIGABYTE engineering team. Whether these screens will work on other motherboards remains to be seen.

The tech behind V-Color’s new memory modules is protected under patent M664715. Note that this display can work during a PC’s post (Power-On Self-Test) and display information without needing a compatible OS or software. These new memory modules also feature ARGB lighting, giving users access to a range of lighting effects.

These new XFinity+ DDR5 memory modules will be available with speeds of up to DDR5-9066. They will also be available in Intel XMP and AMD EXPO flavours. 2x16GB, 2x24GB, and 2x32GB kits will also be available with various frequency and timing options.

V-Color plans to launch its new OLED-clad DDR5 memory kits in Q3 2025. At launch, they will be available exclusively through Newegg, though a broader release will follow.
