Apple ends £3500 Vision Pro Headset production as stock piles up

Demand for Apple’s Vision Pro headset has fallen sharply, and stock is piling up

According to a report from The Information, Apple has stopped producing its £3500 Vision Pro headset. Apple is said to have a large inventory of headsets, and its challenge for 2025 is to shift all of these unsold products. Apple reportedly planned to release a more affordable Vision headset this year, but this product has been scrapped. Simply put, Apple has too much inventory to consider producing and releasing a new headset revision.

We reported that Apple had scaled back the production of its VR headset back in April 2024. Now, it looks like no Vision Pro headsets are being produced.

While early sales for their headset were promising, demand for them quickly fell off a cliff. Ultimately, the headset is far too expensive to become a product with mass-market appeal. If Apple wants to shift more headsets, it must create a more affordable device.

Throughout 2025, we expect Apple to discount their existing Vision Pro headset to help shift inventory. We also expect Apple to increase the device’s appeal with new software updates and features. Apple is still working on a second-generation Vision Pro headset. It is unknown when this new headset will be released or how much it will cost. For Apple’s sake, I hope they can produce something more affordable next time while maintaining the current Vision’s high-end feature set.
