ASUS releases new XG-C100C V3 10GbE PCIe NIC

ASUS pushes ultra-fast wired networking with their new XG-C100C V3 10GbE NIC

ASUS has just introduced a new version of their popular XG-C100C 10Gb ethernet NIC, aiming to increase the proliferation of 10Gb wired connectivity.

This new add-on card features a 10Gbps RJ45 port that supports 10Gbps connections and is backwards compatible with 5Gb, 2.5Gb, 1Gb, and 100 Mb connections. The add-on card supports Windows 10/11 and Linux and even includes “built-in Quality-of-Service (QoS) technology” that allows users to prioritise “gaming packets”. This will help gamers minimise lag.

Today’s version of the XG-C100C is its V3 model. ASUS recommends CAT5e cables for 10 Gbpc connectivity at a minimum. Even then, Cat5E is only good for 30m cable runs. CAT6 and CAT6E cables are recommended for longer cable runs.

Today, more and more routers and other devices support higher-end wired connectivity options. In the UK, speeds beyond Gigabit are becoming common for internet connections, making higher-end wired connectivity a must for heavy internet users. These factors combined make 10GbE connectivity highly desirable for those who want to future-proof their networks. That said, 10Gb hardware remains expensive.

ASUS has not revealed the pricing of its new V3 10GbE NIC. However, it will likely have a similar MSRP to its predecessor.
