Gaming PC takes a literal bullet for its user – Saves life

Gaming PC saves its owner’s life by taking a bullet for her

A Redditor called “angelbabyzz” has reported an incident where her gaming PC saved her life by deflecting a bullet away from her. The incident happened in the middle of the night after a neighbour’s firearm was “accidentally discharged by her dog”.

Police have reportedly claimed that the PC deflected the bullet, changing its trajectory. Had the Gaming PC not been there, the bullet would have hit its owner while she was asleep. In a literal sense, this PC saved its owner’s life.

The bullet passed through the back of the PC, its motherboard, and one of its DRAM slots. The bullet then shattered the tempered glass side panel of the PC’s case, showering the room with glass shards. Nobody was injured by this event, and the neighbour was reportedly charged with negligence. The neighbour arrived shortly after the incident, apologised, and has reportedly offered to pay for cleaning and repair services, and to replace the damaged PC (if her insurance doesn’t cover it).

Neighbour shot my PC through the wall

Basically just what the title says. I woke up in the middle of the night to a bang and glass hitting my face. While I was trying to figure out what had happened, my neighbour arrived in a complete mess sobbing and shaking and terrified that she had hurt someone. Apparently her firearm was accidentally discharged by her dog. The police said that the PC changed the trajectory of the bullet, and it would have hit me while I was sleeping if the PC hadn’t been there. It took me 3 days to clean all the tempered glass from my entire bedroom. Hopefully her insurance will be covering a brand new rig, and she kindly agreed to replace it even if they don’t cover it.

As many have likely guessed, this event happened in the United States of America. The neighbour’s gun has been confiscated, and “angelbabyzz” feels like “she is appropriately paying her dues in this situation” and will not be “pressing for anything further”.

Thankfully, nobody was injured because of this event. Had the PC been in a different location, or had it used DRAM with thinner metal heatsinks, this event could have been much more tragic.
