Intel’s making a Killer Acquisition – Rivet Networks

Intel has confirmed that it has acquired Rivet Networks, a leading provider of accelerated networking products that are best known for their “Killer” branding.

Over the years, Intel and Rivet Networks have worked closely on products, and now, Intel sees that it is time to embed the Killer brand into its own ecosystem, securing for themselves an advantage in WiFi performance and networking software. 

Killer Networking equipment can be found in products from Dell, MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock and other leading PC makers and OEMs, highlighting the popularity and reliability of Revet’s product lineup. 

Intel has acquired Rivet networks for an undisclosed sum of money, and at this time it looks like all of Rivet’s employees. Rivet Netowkring’s CEO, Mike Cubbage, is due to become Intel’s Senior Director of Connectivity Innovations.   

This acquisition brings a lot of new talent to Intel and will allow the company to deliver more as a platform provider, something which will be critical moving forward as Intel faces increasingly stiff competition from ARM and AMD. 

With Intel, Killer Networking will be delivered to a wider range of PCs than ever before, something which will undoubtedly be good for gamers and general PC users alike.
