Lenovo cancels Legion Go 2 pre-orders as demand “substantially exceeded our projections”
Lenovo’s Legion Go 2 is much more popular than expected
Lenovo has revealed that demand for its new Legion GO 2 gaming device has “substantially exceeded our projections”. Because of this, pre-orders have been told that their orders may take longer to fulfil than expected. In fact, the company has been forced to cancel many pre-orders on its website, as the company believes that it cannot ship its Legion Go 2 in a “timely manner” to many pre-orderers.
We know that many of you have been asking about product delays so we owe you an explanation. The truth is pre-orders for the Legion Go Gen 2 has substantially exceeded our projections, leading to unforeseen delivery range extensions. We are working diligently with our teams worldwide to fill these orders as quickly as possible. We truly appreciate the overwhelming support of Legion fans, and ask for your patience while we work to get the Legion Go Gen 2 into your waiting hands.
The Lenovo Legion 2 was designed to be a truly high-end PC gaming handheld. It features an OLED screen alongside AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme gaming processor. This brings together high-end screen technology with AMD’s top Ryzen Z2 Gaming SOC. With an asking price of £1,099 for the Z2 Extreme model, this gaming handheld is expensive. That said, many gamers are willing to pay high prices for the best gaming experience.
We wanted to share an update after connecting with our Lenovo retail colleagues around the world. The good news is that more units are already on their way to major retailers globally, so you can expect to see availability in retail outlets and websites improving in the coming weeks.
That said, we will need to cancel some pre-orders placed directly on Lenovo.com. We don’t believe in holding onto customer payments for products we can’t ship in a timely manner. As soon as our online inventory is replenished, Lenovo.com will show updated availability and ordering will reopen.
We know this is frustrating, and we’re truly sorry for the inconvenience it caused, especially for our most passionate fans. The Legion Go Gen 2 was built with you in mind, and this experience has been an important lesson for us. We’ll use this to improve and ensure a better process moving forward.
What makes the Legion Go 2 Special?
With its removable controllers, trackpad, and mouse-like functionality, Lenovo’s Legion Go is better suited to playing many PC games compared with some competitors. Note that this handheld is also expected to be one of the first to support Microsoft’s new “Xbox Full Screen Experience“. If this upgrade delivers on its claims, it should improve the battery life of Windows gaming handhelds. Furthermore, it should help boost the performance of games by freeing up memory and other resources.
