Meta permanently drops the price of their Quest 2 VR headset

Meta’s Quest 2 VR headset now costs £199 in the UK

Meta has dramatically decreased the cost of their entry-level Quest 2 VR headset, lowering its price to £199 in the UK and $199 in the US. That’s half of what the headset originally cost when it launched in 2020. Meta has called this a “permanent price drop” for the headset.

Since launch, Oculus/Meta have dramatically improved both the performance and capabilities of the VR headset. Today, the headset’s SOC runs at much higher clock speeds, enabling a hefty performance boost. In addition, the headset has had a software overhaul, enabling refresh rates up to 120Hz and strong PC-VR capabilities with wired or wireless connections.

Even now, the Meta Quest 2 is a great VR headset, Yes, the Meta Quest 3 features some major upgrades, but at £479 is it worth the higher cost? For VR newcomers, the Quest 2 remains a very attractive product at its new price.

Alongside the headset itself, the Quest 2’s accessories have also seen their prices drop. The headset’s carry case, Elite Strap, and other accessories all have received discounts of 50% or more. This is great news for both Quest 2 newcomers and veterans alike. Simply put, the Elite Strap is a must-have upgrade for VR fans, as any boost to comfort is a big deal if you enjoy long VR gaming sessions.
