Sabrent makes DB9 Serial to USB-C a reality with modern cables

Sabrent makes DB9 Serial RS-232 modern again with USB Type-C adapters

Let’s face it: a lot of us need to work with old tech, and that tech needs a way to interface with more modern equipment. Sabrent is bridging the gap between old and new tech with its new USB-C and serial cables. These cables allow users of modern Windows, Linux, and macOS devices to interface with legacy technology using the USB Type-C interface.

Sabrent has been making cables like this for years, but until now, they have been building USB Type-A to Serial adapters. Now, Sabrent has moved to USB Type-C, a connector that has become increasingly common on newer devices. This will allow users of modern PCs and laptops to interface with old terminals, printers, modems, GPS systems, and industrial equipment.

Printed onto these serial adapters is a QR code that links to the latest drivers for this adapter. The adapter uses the Prolific PL2303GS chipset, a well-supported Serial controller.

If you need a serial adapter, this is a good option from a respected brand. It’s also well priced, with even the longer cable option costing less than £20. Since this is a serial connection, users should not expect fast speeds from this connector. Up to 12 Mbps speeds are supported. That’s enough for anything that you will be connecting to using this interface.
