Switch 2 Details Leak – May be revealed next month
Nintendo Switch 2 Details Leak – May launch in Mid-March
Over on Reddit, a leakee called “NextHandheld” has revealed a lot of information about Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 console. Beyond that, the leaker claims to have a “final release” console in their possession. The leaker claims that they will be releasing proof of their claims before Christmas, and has made the following claims about the system.
Nintendo Switch 2 Claims from “NextHandheld
- The Console is called the “Switch 2”
- The system will be revealed in January 2025
- The console will be released in mid-March
- At launch, the console will be available in white and grey. Additional game-themed versions will be available
- New Joycons – Feature Magnetic attachment and Hall-Effect joysticks
- Screen size – 8-inch
- Screen Type – LCD
- Dock – Rounder Design than the original Switch
- Same cartridge slot design as the original Switch
- Reportedly features 4K support when Docked
If these claims are true, Nintendo’s new console will be physically compatible with original Switch games. The new Switch will also be larger than its predecessor, thanks to its larger screen size. Furthermore, Nintendo will have finally solved their “Joy-Con Drift” issue by using Hall Effect joysticks.

One downside of Nintendo’s new Switch is that they have opted not to use an OLED screen on their next-generation handheld. This means that the screen will likely deliver lower-quality images than the Switch OLED, making this new handheld a downgrade in this regard. It is likely that Nintendo will create a premium next-gen Switch OLED at some point in the future. After all, the Switch OLED was popular, and Nintendo likes to release several variants of their consoles (how many 3DS models were there gain?).
