Valve’s Steam Machine now has an unofficial 3D printable Companion Cube case

Steam Machine users can now 3D print their own Companion Cube case for their micro gaming PCs

It may not be official, but it is here. Steam Machine users can now 3D print their own Portal Companion Cube case for their Valve Steam Machine. This unofficial 3D-printable case comes from a user on Printables named Jaron, who spent three weeks designing it.

This 3D-printable case arrives less than a month after dbrand was forced to cancel its Companion Cube case for Valve’s Steam Machine. Their case was an unlicensed commercial product that used Valve’s IP. This 3D-printable case is a free-to-download fan creation that is not licensed for commercial use. In other words, it’s a fan-made mod that nobody profits from.

Jaron’s unofficial Steam Machine case comes with detailed instructions, including instructions for how to assemble the case and how to print it using single-filament 3D printers.

Cooling-wise, this case doesn’t cover any vents on Valve’s Steam Machine. To boost airflow, the aperture logo on the front of the case serves as an extra vent, directing more air to the Steam Machine’s front intake. The unofficial 3D printable Steam Machine case is available on Printables.
