Acer May Buy Gateway

The Acer company has recently grown in popularity thanks to decent quality builds, for cheap prices, especially in the laptop range. Over that past few years, Gateway has slowly lost momentum as computer giant Dell has taken over, along with others. It’s now rumored that Acer is hoping to buy competitor Gateway in order to expand production and overall company efficiency and profit.
Neither company has offered a comment to sway us in believing these rumors one way or the other. If we look at the past, a lack of comment normally is due to the subject being true, but this may be an exception. Despite it being a rumor, Gateway shares have jumped today thanks to the news. Last year Gateway did turn down a $450 million offer, but without any idea of an offer price, and the increased downfall of Gateway, we can’t be sure they would turn down such an offer again. We’ll have to wait and see what happen in the end.
