Apple has launched their iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, and they both look a lot like the iPhone 13
It's official, Apple has revealed their iPhone 14 series of smartphones, and their Standard 14 and 14 Plus models share a lot in common with their predecessors, including their notch and A15 Bionic chip.
Apple's new A16 Bionic chip is reserved exclusively for Apple's iPhone 14 Pro smartphone, leaving the 14 and 14 Plus with Apple's older A15 chip. Despite this, Apple has promised an increased bettery life with their iPhone 14 series smartphones, with their 14 Plus having the best battery life of any iPhone.
With the iPhone 14, Apple is doing away with physical sim cards. Apple is going all-in on eSIM functionality, allowing several eSIMs to be supported on an iPhone 14 to allow users to have access to multiple phone numbers, data plans, and everything else that multi-SIM devices can offer.
iPhone 14 supports a new feature called Satellite SOS, which allows iPhone 14 devices to connect to satellite frequencies to send messages to emergency services. This feature allows users to send messages to emergency services in less than 15 seconds, guiding users to satellites to ensure a direct connection. This service is a premium product for iPhones, but iPhone 14 buyers will gain access to it for free for two years.
iPhone 14 will ship with a 6.1 inch screen, and the iPhone 14 Plus will ship with a larger 6.9-inch screen. With their new 12 megapixel main camera with f/1.5 aperture and sensor-based stabilization, Apple has claimed that iPhone 14 can deliver a 49% improvement in low light image quality. Additionally, Apple has claimed that Night Mode is now 2x faster.
Apple also stated that its Deep Fusion image processing technology can now be applied earlier in the image pipeline with iPhone 14, improving low light performance and colour rendering. Apple calls this technology their “Photonic Engine.”
The most noteworthy thing about Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus is its pricing. Despite inflationary pressure, Apple are not increasing the pricing of their latest iPhones. Like their predecessors, iPhone 14 will ship from $799 and iPhone 14 Plus will ship from $899 in the US.
Pre-orders for Apple's iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will start on September 9th, with the iPhone 14 launching on September 16th while the iPhone 14 Plus will ship on October 7th.
