How do Tokyo Police Catch Drones? With a huge net!

How do you catch a drone? Well the Tokyo Metropolitan Police department have decided that using their own drone, equipped with a net is a good solution.

In Japan certain areas are restricted due to the potential dangers of drones, like around monuments, airports, roads and around the prime ministers office. If a drone is flying in these restricted areas the police will warn the users via loudspeakers, but if the drone does not leave the restricted area the police will deploy the drone will be taken down.

Below is a video showcasing one of Tokyo's new police drones in action;

In April of this year a drone carrying a bottle of a radioactive material landed on the Japanese Prime Minister's office. During this drone demonstration Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said that they are reviewing their laws on drone use and developing countermeasures against the use of drones by terrorists.

   Taking into consideration the latest incident, we will review drone use and measures for possible terrorist attacks using drones. We'll do our utmost to prevent terrorist attacks,

Right now it is illegal to operate drones over certain areas of Japan and to fly them above the height of 150m. Right now it is unknown if stricter laws will be made in the future.

Doesnt seem reliable enough.

Though terrorists never seem to be missing a moron or a lot that are willing to go and blow themselves up and take innocent lives with them. So no need for them to waste money and contribute to the market.Quote

Agreed. It's not really the drones that we need to be worried about for a mass scale incident.

Everyone is hating on drones this year. The tech has been around for years the media just like to hype it up. Remember the craziness when mobile phones first came with cameras?? Pedos, perverts and axe murderers will be the only ones to buy them and everyone will be up to no good. OH yeah that never eventuated.

Also I think water cannons would work against drones pretty nicely.Quote

Well if you're faster than a fire hose then the net's not going to catch you either :PQuote
