THQ Nordic has acquired Koch Media for €121 million

THQ Nordic has announced that they have agreed to purchase the entirety of  Konch Media in a deal worth €121 million (£107.75 million), including the publisher Deep Silver who currently published the Saints Row, Dead Island and Metro series of video games.

THQ Nordic was formerly known as Nordic Games, changing its name to THQ Nordic in 2016 after acquiring THQ and the majority of its game licenses in 2013. This deal will bring the Saints Row and Metro series of games back under the THQ banner, alongside other Deep Silver owned game licenses.

This deal will also bring Koch Media-owned developers like Volition, Dambuster Studios and Fishlabs under the oversight of THQ Nordic as well as the company's film business.

At this time nothing is set to change within Koch Media, with Konch Media being set to continue to act as a separate entity to THQ Nordic. Koch Media's video game publishing brand Deep Silver is expected to be merged with THQ Nordic, allowing both publishers to utilise each other's strengths and expertise to become a more flexible publisher and development house.

Below is a comment from THQ Nordic's CEO Lars Wingefors;

     Koch Media has a long history of profitability despite losses incurred from some less successful game releases. THQ Nordic is convinced that the development studios of Deep Silver as part of THQ Nordic will successfully deliver at least four ongoing AAA game projects including Metro Exodus as well as the next Volition Studio AAA release and the next Dambuster Studio AAA release, together with a number of other game development and publishing titles.

Amongst Deep Silver's current and future publishing projects includes Kingdom Come: Deliverance (Xbox One, PS4 and Physical PC copies only), Shenmue III, Metro: Exodus and a new AAA project from Volition.

What surprises me is that Nordic Games GmbH had enough money for all this. Hopefully they continue the Red Faction games with a new game having similar gameplay to the original rather then the horrid gameplay of Red Faction: Armageddon.Quote

Peace
Good news for Darksiders 3 as THQNordic obviously have the money Hopefully there will be a new and GOOD Saints Row in the future with an upgraded engine as Agents of Mayem seemed to be horrible with its current price reduction.Quote
