Corsair releases enhanced VS-series PSUs

Corsair has released a new refreshed VS-series PSU lineup, delivering a reduced size, an updated fan profile for lower noise output and a new black/grey colour scheme.

These new VS-series power supplied will come in 450W, 550W and 650W units with a length of just 125mm, which is 15mm shorter than Corsair’s last-generation VS series PSUs. This compact design will allow users to hide unused cables more easily, thanks to this extra clearance. This unit is pretty much as small as you can achieve in a standard ATX form factor with a 120mm fan.

The two disadvantages of this power supply are it’s fixed cabling, which means that all unused cables are visible inside the user’s system and the power supply’s low 80+ efficiency rating (Lower than 80+ Bronze). These two factors are counteracted by the affordable pricing of these new units, with Corsair setting an MSRP of £34.99 for the 450W model, £39.99 for the 550W model and £49.99 for the 650W model.

All three of these new VS-series models offer the same connector loadout, which includes a 24-pin ATX, 4+4 pin EPS, two 6+2 pin PCIe, seven SATA power connections, two 4-pin Molex, and a single Floppy connection. These cables will come with a black sleeve, though the coloured wires will remain visible underneath this braiding.

Corsair will be backing up these new VS-series units with three-year warranties.
