EVGA has just updated its SuperNOVA PSU lineup, promising high wattage units that are smaller in size, quieter, and deliver users tighter voltage tolerances than their predecessors. In short, EVGA’s new SuperNOVA 1600W and 1300W P+ units appear to be major improvements over their last-generation counterparts, despite offering the same 80+ efficiency rating. 

While they may offer PC builders the same 80+ Platinum Efficiency rating, EVGA’s new 1600 P+ and 1300 P+ offer a lot of upgrades over the 1600 P2 and 1200 P2 models that they replace. For starters, the 1300W P+ model has a higher wattage capacity, and that is just the start of EVGA’s long list of upgrades. 

Noise-wise, EVGA has stated that their new 1300W P+ model is up to 45% quieter than its 1200W P2 predecessor, lowering noise levels from 35.8 dB to 19.6dB. Combine that with EVGA’s promise of “longer-lasting fans”, it is clear that EVGA has upped their game with regards to cooling. Beyond that, both their 1600W and 1300W P+ units ship with 10-year warranties. 

With the SuperNOVA P+ series, EVGA has also promised tighter 12V load regulation and efficiency levels of 92% or higher under typical levels of system load. Size-wise, EVGA’s latest SuperNOVA 1600 P+ is also 20mm shorter than EVGA’s SuperNOVA 1600 P2, making the PSU a lot easier to fit inside most PC enclosures.
