The newest ASRock PSUs have a game changing innovation
ASRock’s new Taichi and Phantom Gaming PSUs have made 12V-2×6 cables much safer to use
At Computex 2025, ASRock unveiled its new Taichi and Phantom Gaming series power supply units (PSUs), and they have a new innovation that many PC gamers have been crying out for: safer 16-pin 12V-2×6 power connectors.
ASRock has added a temperature probe to the GPU end of its new 12V-2×6 power cables. This sensor can be plugged into your power supply to add “Cable Over-Temperature Protection” to your 12V-2×6 cable. This feature is patented and only available with ASRock’s new Taichi and Phantom Gaming PSUs.
If your 12V-2×6 cable overheats, your power supply will shut down and turn off your entire system. This will protect your power supply and your graphics card from potential damage. While it’s sad that these kinds of protections are necessary, we are glad that ASRock is doing what it can to protect its users.
ASRock Taichi and Phantom Gaming series PSUs
ASRock have just launched their new Taichi and Phantom Gaming series PSU, and they are designed to deliver high levels of power efficiency and low noise levels to users. They are also ready to power the latest graphics cards, thanks to their support for 12V-2×6 power cables.
ASRock’s Taichi and Phantom Gaming PSUs are ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 certified. The Taichi series is 80+ and Cybenetics Titanium certified, and will be available in 1650W and 1300W forms. The Phantom Gaming series is 80+ Gold rated and Cybenetics Platinum rated and will be available in 750W, 850W, 1000W, 1300W, and 1600W forms.
With Cybenetics A and A+ ratings, respectively, ASRock’s Phantom Gaming and Taichi power supplies should also be quiet under load. If noise levels are important to you, these low-noise certifications should mean a lot.
If you are concerned about the safety of the 12V-2×6 power standard, ASRock’s latest PSUs should help ease your concerns. Cable Over-Temperature Protection is a nice feature, and it’s certainly a reason to consider ASRock over other brands.
