Thermaltake’s new 2000W PSU is too powerful for America
Thermaltake’s new Toughpower D2000 is too powerful for many American homes
At CES 2025, Thermaltake showed off a huge range of power supplies, and the most powerful of them is the Toughpower D2000, a 2000W power supply. On the show floor, Thermaltake confirmed that this new PSU will launch in Europe soon but is too powerful to be used in many US homes.
Simply put, Thermaltake’s new D2000 power supply can pull more watts than many US home outlets can handle. In other markets, standard home outlets can handle these higher wattage loads, allowing these PSUs to be safely released there. US users will need to make do with Thermaltake’s 1650W PSUs.
The new Toughpower D2000 is an 80+ Titanium power supply that is PCIe 5.1 and ATX 3.1 certified. The PSU also has multiple 12X-2×6 power connectors. This will allow this PSU to power multiple RTX 50 series GPUs at once.

Simply put, this new 2000W power supply from Thermaltake is a beast. However, it is simply overkill for almost all PC builds. Only ultra-high-end workstations with multiple GPUs will need this kind of power. Even so, we can see ample demand for this kind of product given the growth of AI, and the desire for multi-GPU workstations.
