A Way Out may have been delayed until 2019

A Way Out was one of the highlights of E3 2017, a game that comes as part of EA’s Originals program that acts as a co-op only story focused experience. This game is being created by Hazelight Studios, with Josef Fares, the mind behind Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, an Indie classic.

Rumours have now started to circulate, with leaked data now suggesting that this game will be one of EA’s “most anticipated games of 2019”, which suggests that the game will not be released in Early 2018 like originally planned. The leaks also suggest that EA will be revealing more information about this title on December 7th, the same day as Geoff Keighley’s “The Game Awards”. It is likely that more information about A Way Out will be released at this event.

There could be many reasons behind this delay, from slow development to an increase in scope. With the hype surrounding this game at E3 it is likely that EA and Hazelight are being extra careful with the game’s development.

Officially unveiled at EA Play 2017, A Way Out is a couch or online co-op only game where you play the role of one of two prisoners in a daring escape over and beyond the prison walls.

What begins as a thrilling escape quickly turns into an emotional adventure unlike anything seen & played before. A Way Out is a two-player experience. Each player controls one of the main characters, working together to escape the prison and continue beyond into each character’s lives.

Like all big game delays, it fills us with a mixture of disappointment and thankfulness. Like many, we were looking forward to playing this game at launch, though we are glad to see that the game will not be rushed out of the door before it is finished.

A Way Out will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Origin. Right now, there doesn’t seem to be a Nintendo Switch version in development.
