A Way Out may have been delayed until 2019

So much for the game's Early 2018 release date

A Way Out may have been delayed until 2019

A Way Out may have been delayed until 2019

A Way Out was one of the highlights of E3 2017, a game that comes as part of EA's Originals program that acts as a co-op only story focused experience. This game is being created by Hazelight Studios, with Josef Fares, the mind behind Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, an Indie classic.

Rumours have now started to circulate, with leaked data now suggesting that this game will be one of EA's "most anticipated games of 2019", which suggests that the game will not be released in Early 2018 like originally planned. The leaks also suggest that EA will be revealing more information about this title on December 7th, the same day as Geoff Keighley's "The Game Awards". It is likely that more information about A Way Out will be released at this event.

There could be many reasons behind this delay, from slow development to an increase in scope. With the hype surrounding this game at E3 it is likely that EA and Hazelight are being extra careful with the game's development.

Officially unveiled at EA Play 2017, A Way Out is a couch or online co-op only game where you play the role of one of two prisoners in a daring escape over and beyond the prison walls.

What begins as a thrilling escape quickly turns into an emotional adventure unlike anything seen & played before. A Way Out is a two-player experience. Each player controls one of the main characters, working together to escape the prison and continue beyond into each character’s lives.

Like all big game delays, it fills us with a mixture of disappointment and thankfulness. Like many, we were looking forward to playing this game at launch, though we are glad to see that the game will not be rushed out of the door before it is finished.

A Way Out will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Origin. Right now, there doesn't seem to be a Nintendo Switch version in development.

"We could end up losing on a lot of money after the Bafflefield 1 fiasco...

"Sir, it wasn't Battlefield that lost us money, it was Battlefront II, the one with all the Star Wars characters, like the little green man who talks funny."

"Oh, yes, that's right. Thank you Billy. As I was saying. After all the money we lost on Battlefront *winks at Billy* we've decided that we need to... expand the scope of A Way Out. Any ideas?"

*two hours later*

"I can't think of anything!"

"Neither can I!"

*two minutes later*

"How about this? How about, instead of pay to win or pay to look like a Barbie doll, how about this: Pay to Choose! Characters won't be able to make the choices they want unless they buy in-game items like a pickax or a radio. We could give them 'free' choices, of course, because we are video game publishers after all... are we Billy? *looks at Billy for confirmation* OK, we are. And if we give them choices that are so hard to do or so unappealing, they'd have no other option but to give us their Dad's money!"

*silence*
