Amazon releases gameplay footage of their New World MMO
New World is perhaps the most ambitious of these projects, placing players into a Massively Multiplayer Sandbox where players can build settlements and fight monsters in a supernatural interpretation of a 1700s America-like colony. Â
Amazon has not released their first official gameplay of New World, with the short trailer showcasing the game’s graphic as a player runs across the countryside. At this time exact details for the game are not known, as many of the title’s features are experimental, utilising the powerful capabilities of Amazon’s server infrastructure to create a world that is more interactive than competing MMOs.Â
New World promises a world that changes over time, with seasons, weather and time of day all having an impact on the game world. Player made settlements can thrive or fall as time progresses, though at this time it is unknown how the game’s settlement features will function in practice. The game also promises to allow territories to be claimed, with players being able to unite to form “powerful companies” that include craftsmen, architects, mercenaries and prospectors.Â
