AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution Tech is coming to Xbox Series X/S

AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution technology is coming to Xbox consoles, delivering AMD’s performance-boosting upscaling technology to console gamers.

This is a critical win for AMD, adding to AMD’s success when bringing its other FidelityFX technology to Xbox in partnership with Microsoft. Bringing these optimisations to Xbox will add AMD’s technology to many future PC games, and adding FidelityFX Super Resolution onto this list of features should only help AMD in the long run.

AMD has to prove itself with FidelityFX Super Resolution

FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) is coming to PC games on June 22nd, and AMD needs to prove to PC gamers that it is a worthy add-on for developers. AMD not only needs to prove that FSR delivers significant performance gains, but they also need to prove that FSR delivers the levels of image quality that are required to make the technology worth adopting.

The advantage of AMD’s technology is that it can be adopted by console gamers and PC gamers, regardless of their GPU hardware. This should ensure widespread adoption of AMD’s technology, should it deliver suitably high levels of image quality. Microsoft’s adoption is a positive step, but we will need to see FSR for ourselves before making any firm predictions regarding this technology.
