Assassin’s Creed Shadows breaks series records on Steam

Assassin’s Creed Shadows breaks the series’ concurrent player record on Steam

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now available on PC and consoles, and it appears to be a hit. Ubisoft has confirmed that the game already has over 2 million players, surpassing the numbers that AC Origins and Odyssey achieved at launch. Now, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has hit a new series record for concurrent players on Steam.

According to SteamDB, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has reached a concurrent player peak of 64,825 players on Steam. This surpasses the record set by AC: Odyssey, which reached a player count of 62,069. Note that this number doesn’t include all PC players, only those on Steam.

It is worth noting that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was not available on Steam on day 1. As such, its concurrent player numbers cannot be compared to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as most of Valhalla’s PC sales were on other platforms.

So far, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been much more successful than the publisher’s other recent game launches. However, it remains to be seen if the game has been successful enough to save Ubisoft. After all, this game spent a lot of time in development, and that development time undoubtedly raised its development costs.
