ASUS promises Ryzen 5000 BIOS files for 400-series motherboards "in a couple of weeks"
This support will come through AGESA 1.1.8.0 BIOS files, which will be released for X470 and B450 motherboards. These files will allow users of these older motherboard platforms to upgrade to AMD's latest Ryzen processors, allowing them to benefit from the architectural advancements which are offered by AMD's Zen 3 architecture.
AMD's AGESA 1.1.8.0 BIOS files will allow B450 and X470 users to upgrade from Zen/Zen + CPUs to Zen 3 processors, delivering gamers a monumental leap in system performance. Zen 2 was a gamechanger for AMD's gaming performance, and Zen 3 deliver further benefits, placing the company ahead of Intel's latest processors in many instances.
While B450 and X470 motherboards lack support for PCIe 4.0 connectivity, the platform remains an excellent option for those who wish to upgrade their systems. Existing owners will not need a new motherboard to use AMD's Ryzen 5000 series processors, making the upgrade much more affordable.
ASUS has not given us a firm release date for their AGESA 1.1.8.0 BIOS files, though they are expected to release within the next few weeks.
