Baldur’s Gate 3 is due to arrive on Early Access this year
For starters, the company confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 is due to release in 2020 in Early Access. Baldur’s Gate 3 is being developed by Larain Studios, the developer behind Divinity: Original Sin.Â
Moving forward, Hasbro plans to release a new D&D-based game every year until 2025, capitalising on the growing popularity of Dungeons and Dragons. D&D’s resurgence comes largely thanks to the release of D&D 5th Edition (5E), though web series’ like Critical Role and TV series’ like Stranger Things have also had their impact on the tabletop RPG’s mainstream appeal.Â
Some reports have claimed that Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Steam’s Early Access program, though I have not been able to find a primary source to confirm this. Early Access doesn’t necessarily mean Steam Early Access. Hopefully, Larain will confirm Baldur’s Gate 3’s PC platforms in the near future. A gameplay reveal for Baldur’s Gate 3 is planned in the near future, which should hopefully reveal a lot more about the game.
