Bethesda confirms Fallout 3 and New Vegas Remasters

Fallout 5 remains a “long-range destination” for Bethesda Game Studios

Bethesda Game Studios has officially confirmed that it plans to make Fallout 5, but it remains a “long-range destination” for the studio. In other words, it will be launching after The Elder Scrolls 6. That said, this does not mean that Bethesda doesn’t have several Fallout projects in the works. Remastered versions of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are in development, as is new content for Fallout 76 and Fallout Shelter.

Sadly, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas Remastered have no firm release dates. Both games will likely use the same technology as Bethesda’s 2025 remake of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. That means greatly upgraded visuals and some welcome quality-of-life improvements.

Fallout 76 will be getting a new expansion next year called “Raven Rock”, which will act as a prequel story to Fallout 3. This suggests that Fallout 3’s remaster could launch after this expansion. This would allow Fallout 76’s expansion to lead directly into Fallout 3’s remake/remaster.

Fallout is one of our biggest priorities today. Fallout 5 remains our long-range destination, and we have multiple Fallout projects in active development right now.

Fallout 76 continues to be home to millions of players exploring Appalachia together. With nearly 70 free updates released to date, the journey is far from over. In fact, we have a major Fallout 76 expansion planned for next year: Raven Rock, a prequel story to Fallout 3.

Fallout 4, the most award-winning game in the franchise, just celebrated its 10-year anniversary and recently passed over 35 million copies sold, continuing to attract a new audience every year.

We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

Bethesda have also confirmed that Amazon are already producing Fallout season 3. The studio also confirmed that Fallout’s 30th anniversary will be a big event next year. Fallout Day 2027 will be celebrated live in Washington DC. Since that’s the setting of Fallout 3, you can guess which remaster is likely to be revealed there.
