Bioware releases Anthem Trailer and Demo plans

Electronic Arts and Bioware have released a new gameplay trailer for Anthem, detailing many of the game’s story elements, missions and the many characters that players will interact with throughout the game.

EA has also revealed that Anthem will have a pre-release demo version, which will release on February 1st, 2019, a full 21 days before the game’s official launch on February 22nd. This demo version will be exclusive to EA Access or Origin Access subscribers, with the game’s developers stating that the demo is from the final version of the game, not a beta version.

Strangely, Bioware has made it clear that this demo will only become available to PC/Xbox One users who subscribe to EA or Origin Access before the demo’s launch. Post-release Access subscriptions will not have access to Anthem’s demo, a strange restriction for newcomers to EA’s subscription services.

In Anthem, teams of up to four players can explore the game’s dangerous world, using Javelin exosuits to combat the many creatures and hostile humans to occupy the landscape. Bioware promises a unique story with Anthem, hopefully overcoming the narrative issues that are often associated with MMO-lite multiplayer RPG-shooters, though this remains to be seen.

Anthem will offer gamers a solo-play option, though the game will remain as an online-only title.

Anthem will be an always-online game and will lack loot boxes, though EA has confirmed that cosmetic and vanity items will be available for purchase.
