Blizzard is creating World of Warcraft Classic servers

At Blizzcon 2017 Blizzard has revealed that they are creating official "Classic" WOW servers, bringing the world's largest MMO back into its original iteration, before many of the game's original zones were irreparably changed by the events of each of the game's expansion, most notably the cataclysm.

This announcement comes after Blizzard closed down several providers of "unofficial" vanilla WOW servers, showcasing that Blizzard wants to appease their fanbase by providing a legitimate option to play classic/vanilla WOW, taking advantage of the obvious demand for the service.

We’re pleased to announce the development of a “classic server” option for World of Warcraft. We’ll have more information to share in the future.

At this time not much is known about Blizzard's classic WOW servers, or if these new servers will contain any upgrades over its original counterparts either technically or digitally. Remember, this is classic WOW, which does not necessarily mean vanilla/day-1 WOW.

In all honesty I don't see the point, Always being lvl 60 max, Doing the same content over and over again, Never being able to partake in the newer content.

I honestly can't see the appeal of being stuck at lvl 60.Quote

I imagine a lot of people would like to create new characters a relive the "old days" of WOW. See what everything was like before the cataclysm etc.

Hopefully, there will be a way to transfer characters from "classic" WOW to "modern" WOW. Don't really care about the other way around, as who wants to sit there as a level 60 the whole time.Quote

There are plenty of people who don't like the watered down new WoW, warmane alone has 30k concurrent players, so probably around 150k active players. I'm not the type of guy who can spend an awful lot of time in any MMO, they are quite repetitive after all, but i prefer WOTLK over legion as well when i do play it once in a while.Quote

Who doesn't miss the days when Hogger was actually a challenge, and leveling was more than a 3 hour job, they lost the plot after Cata, I know Cata wasn't upto TBC and WOTLK but I still liked it after that none of it is worth talking aboutQuote
