World of Warcraft's Battle for Azeroth Expansion is set to release later this year, bringing a lot of new content and features to the title. Blizzard has now opened pre-orders for Battle of Azeroth, releasing the expansion's updated PC system requirements alongside it.

Battle of Azeroth will see World of Warcraft become a lot more demanding, seeing huge increases in both the game's minimum and recommended system requirements, relating to CPU, GPU, memory and storage requirements.

One of the first changes is that Blizzard now lists the game with an explicit 64-bit OS recommendation with a 4GB system memory requirement, a jump from the game's former minimum requirement of 2GB. Storage requirements have also leapt from 45GB to 72GB.

With the upcoming expansion, system requirements have changed. Please make sure your current hardware meets the requirements for Battle of Azeroth prior completing the purchase.

Above we can see Battle for Azeroth's PC system requirements and below we can see Legion's PC system requirements, with WOW's latest expansion requiring a much more powerful system.

The game's system memory/RAM requirements have doubled to become 4GB and 8GB respectively in the game's new system requirements, and an SSD has now become a recommended storage option for the title.

On the CPU side, we see the most significant changes. In the game's minimum and recommended requirements we move to newer products with higher/thread core counts. This increase makes it seem likely that World of Warcraft will become more multi-threaded with the release of Battle for Azeroth, pointing towards some significant engine changes.

On the GPU side, we also see a notable increase, though the game is still listed with support for Intel Integrated graphics that are HD 530 series or newer, which are found in Skylake-based Intel CPUs or newer.
