Bulletstorm: Full Clip will not be a free upgrade for existing owners on PC

Randy Pitchford, the founder and president of Gearbox Software has confirmed that Bulletstorm: Full Clip will not be a free upgrade for existing Bulletstorm owners on PC.

This has surprised many PC gamers, who have recently received free upgraded versions of Bioshock, TES:Skyrim and Darksiders in recent months. Randy's response was to state that  Gearbox are unable to offer a free upgrade like this as EA was the original publisher of the game, with this new release coming from People Can Fly games in partnership with Gearbox.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition will come with all existing DLC for the game as well as high-resolution textures, 4K support on the PS4 Pro and PC and some al-new content that has been made specifically for this new release.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip will not be a free upgrade for existing Bulletstorm owners on PC

One main point that needs to be driven home here is that remastered content like Bulletstorm: Full Clip and Darksiders Warmastered Edition should not be expected to release for free for existing PC owners. Yes, owners of the previous version did pay for the game, but they did not pay for the effort required to upgrade the game's visuals or add any additional content to the game.

Remastered content should not be expected to release for free on PC, though owners of the original game will no doubt be disappointed that they will not be receiving a discount if they decide to upgrade to this new version.
