Now, ironically, Sony has confirmed that Black Ops: Cold War’s Zombies Onslaught mode will be exclusive to Sony platforms (PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5) until November 1st 2021. Thankfully, Black Ops: Cold War’s traditional 4-player Zombies mode will be available on all platforms.Â
Zombies Onslaught is a new two-player Zombies experience which will allow players into several locations within multiplayer-derived maps with custom weapon/equipment loadouts. Players will be confined to specific areas by the “Dark Aether Orb”, an object which is charged by killing zombies. After enough Zombies are killed, the orb will move. Standing outside the ord’s area of area-of-effect will damage players, forcing players to move with the orb.Â
Each wave/surge of zombies will become more challenging as the game progresses. The objective of the game mode is to stay alive for as long as you can, with higher survival ranks allowing players to unlock rewards which can be used in Black Ops Cold War’s other Multiplaye modes.Â
  During Requiem’s investigation of Dark Aether anomalies at various, familiar locations across the globe, your strike team encounters a mysterious Orb radiating dangerously high levels of unnatural energy. As your team of two investigates the anomalies, the Orb creates a barrier trapping your team inside a specific zone, and a seemingly unending horde of zombies is unleashed. With nowhere to run, your team has a single goal in mind: stay alive.
This is Zombies Onslaught, a two-person, fast-paced Zombies experience for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, exclusive* to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players.
*Not available on other platforms until Nov. 1, 2021.
Gamers on Xbox and PC will be unable to play Black Ops: Cold War’s Zombies Onslaught mode until November 2021, just in time for the release of Activision’s next Call of Duty game.
