COD: Modern Warfare Remastered is expected to soon receive a standalone release

Recent Gamefly listings have suggested that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will soon have a standalone release, with a PS4 version reportedly releasing on PS4 on June 20th and on Xbox One on July 20th.

This has not been confirmed by Activision, though it makes a lot of sense given the companies DLC plans for this "add-on title" for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's Digital Deluxe Edition. Right now, Modern Warfare Remastered is exclusive to those who purchase Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's £59.99 Digital Legacy Edition or £79.99 Digital Deluxe Edition, which is a slap in the face for those who only wish to buy the HD re-release of Call of Duty 4 separately.

Not only is Modern Warfare Remastered exclusive to a small subset of Infinite Warfare owners, but it also has its own £11.59 "Variety Map Pack" DLC, which includes maps that were released for free with the original game and makes the game even more prohibitively expensive.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is expected to soon receive a standalone release

At the time of writing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered represents the worst the AAA gaming industry has to offer, forcing what should be an attractive game remaster of a classic game into an expensive game bundle and then forces users to pay for DLC that was free with the original game.

Until Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is released as a standalone product it is certainly not a game that we consider worth recommending, with a small core player base and a stupidly high price.

I have the game but barely play it because they removed the servers that it had in the original game.

They also didn't do a proper remaster in my oppinion because the graphics don't look much better, performance is much lower and there are to many things that have been added or removed to it that don't make it a proper remaster or even a proper pc game.

If they had kept the servers the same then I would be playing more and not made a mess of it like they did.

As it stands I do not recommend it to anyone even if they enjoyed the original.Quote
