CD Projekt Red unveils “Cross-platform Mod Support” for The Witcher 3
The Witcher 3 is getting “one more patch” for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5
To celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary, CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt will be receiving “one more patch” on current-generation platforms. This new update will bring “cross-platform mod support” to The Witcher 3.
Thanks to the game’s planned modding update, gamers on PC and consoles will be able to access modded content within the game. Mod support will be available through mod.io, with PC and consoles sharing the same modding ecosystem. Mods will be available for free through Mod.io. However, not all mods will be available on all platforms due to platform guidelines and other restrictions.
As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we’re excited to share some good news for our players and modders!
Later this year, we will release one more patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This update will introduce cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S via mod.io.
Creating, sharing, and enjoying mods will be easier and more accessible, as players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will be able to share a modding ecosystem.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that cross-platform mod support will be available “later this year.” Currently, CD Projekt Red has unveiled no plans to bring The Witcher 3’s current-generation “Complete Edition” to Nintendo’s Switch 2 console. This suggests that the studio has no plans to release an enhanced version of The Witcher 3 for Nintendo’s new console.
Today’s news also confirms that The Witcher 3’s next update will likely be its last. Currently, it is unknown if the update will deliver anything more than cross-platform mod support.
