CD Projekt Red showcases Cyberpunk 2077's Next-Gen update on PS5 and Xbox Series X

Patch 1.5 will enable Cyberpunk 2077's Next-Generation features

CD project Red has just showcased Cyberpunk 2077's next-generation versions, releasing gameplay videos for the game's upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X versions using patch 1.5. The game's Xbox Series S version was not showcased.

Cyberpunk 2077's update 1.5 is due to land soon, bringing with it enhancements for Cyberpunk 2077 on next-generation consoles. These enhancements include faster loading times, 4K resolution support (with Dynamic Resolution Scaling) faster loading times and other technical and visual improvements.

Previously, Cyberpunk 2077 ran on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 using backwards compatibility mode, allowing the game to utilise the power of these systems to offer gamers 60 FPS framerates. In this mode Cyberpunk 2077 runs faster on next-generation (now current generation) systems, but the game does not take full advantage of PS5/Xbox Series hardware.

Patch 1.5 will be coming all versions of Cyberpunk 2077, though some features from this patch will be next-generation exclusive. At this time, it is unknown how this patch will impact Cyberpunk 2077's PC version. Hopefully CD project Red's work on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will yield some new optimisations for Cyberpunk 2077's PC version (perhaps some ray tracing optimisations?).

Take a look at the Patch 1.5/Next-Gen Update gameplay captured on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. With the update, #Cyberpunk2077 takes advantage of the additional power of the newest generation of console hardware, allowing for ray tracing features and 4K with dynamic scaling, faster loading times, and a variety of other visual and technical improvements. On PS5 the game also utilizes the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback functionalities.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure RPG set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour, and body modification. You play as a cyberpunk mercenary taking on the most powerful forces of the city in a fight for glory and survival. Fully customize your character and playstyle as you take on jobs, build your reputation, and unlock upgrades. The relationships you forge and the choices you make will shape the story and the world around you. Legends are made here. What will yours be?

They've done a fair amount, As well as a LOT of bug fixes they've added in some very nice PC specific things -

  • Added a benchmark mode. You can find it in Settings > Run Benchmark.
  • Added a "Toggle walking" option when playing with keyboard. It is activated by pressing G during exploration. The key can be rebinded in Settings.
  • Enabled transparent ray-traced reflections on glossy coating of some cars.
  • Enabled Variable Rate Shading (VRS). This feature boosts rendering performance and visual quality by varying the shading rate for different regions of the frame. Available only on compatible hardware.
  • Fixed an issue which blocked Resolution Scaling on AMD graphics cards when Ray Tracing was enabled
  • Added AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR) 1.0 algorithm, replacing Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS). On PC it can be enabled in Settings > Graphics > Resolution Scaling.
  • Multiple fixes and improvements related to stability and optimization.

Had a play late last night. The DLSS ghosting still needs addressing which is still fixed my manually copying the latest version into CP2077. I didnt see that in the patch notes though.Quote
