Cities Skylines is getting a Meta/Oculus Quest 2 version called Cities: VR

Cities: Skylines is the king of city builders, taking the spotlight from the Sim City franchise after its launch in 2015. Since then, the game has only got more advanced with the launch of new DLC and content packs, with mods taking things another step forward.

Paradox Interactive and Meta have announced that Colossal Order’s city building classic is receiving a reimagined VR version on the Meta (Oculus) Quest 2. This will allow gamers to build their cities from within a VR landscape, giving them a true God’s eye view of their creations.

Cities: VR is currently being made by Fast Travel Games, a VR-only developer. Fast Travel Games previously created Apex Construct, and Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife.

Cities: Skyline’s VR version will support the same city management systems as its PC and console counterparts. Players will need to control their city’s traffic, economy, emergency services and utilities to create a modern utopia.

Fast travel Games’ Creative Director, Erik Odeldahl, has showcased some alpha gameplay for Cities: VR below. Here, gamers can see some of the game’s motion controls and its UI.

Cities: VR is due to launch in Spring 2022 for Meta’s Quest 2 VR headset. Sadly, a VR mode for Cities: Skylines’ PC version is not in the works.
