Control is getting a sequel, and it’s a hack and slash!

Control Resonant is coming to PC and consoles in 2026

Remedy has just unveiled Control Resonant, their upcoming sequel to 2019’s Control. The game is coming to PC and consoles in 2026, following Dylan Faden, the brother of Control’s protagonist Jessie Faden.

Unlike Control, Control Resonant will be a hack-and-slash game, with Dylan Faden’s weapon being “The Aberrant”, a shape-shifting melee weapon. Manhatten is facing paranormal annihilation, and Dylan has to leave the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) to combat the threat.

Dylan needs to unlock his full supernatural potential and comprehend and contain the paranormal threats facing New York. The city of overrun by the chaotic “Hiss” and the invasive “Mold”, both of which seek to tear the world apart.

Remedy Entertainment unveiled CONTROL Resonant, the highly-anticipated sequel to Remedy’s critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning CONTROL. Players will explore a warped Manhattan on the brink of paranatural annihilation in this thrilling action-adventure RPG. Unleash the extraordinary powers of Dylan Faden as he fights for his humanity and survival against a reality-bending cosmic threat. CONTROL Resonant will be published by Remedy Entertainment. Annapurna Pictures are co-financing and co-producing the game as part of a strategic partnership with Remedy Entertainment. CONTROL Resonant is scheduled to be released in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac via Steam and the App Store.

After years in confinement at the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden’s former captors are deploying him at the peak of a supernatural crisis. Charged with combating a mysterious cosmic entity as it alters fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his new found powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan. On the path to unlocking the full potential of his supernatural abilities Dylan will also seek out his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, as he struggles to comprehend and contain the dangers that have spilled beyond the confines of the Oldest House to tear the world apart.

In CONTROL Resonant, players will explore multiple areas of Manhattan in an expansive, unfamiliar world as an invading cosmic force reshapes the environment, defiles natural law and distorts gravity, reordering reality into a geophysical nightmare. Players will traverse perception-bending locations and journey beyond the material world into a mysterious metaphysical space reflecting Dylan Faden’s troubled psyche. Tap into power that Dylan must learn to master and make choices to shape abilities that manifest and grow while exploring a deep progression system. Face ever-changing threats head-on, utilizing the environment, unleashing elemental abilities and wielding the raw force Dylan’s shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant.

Control was a graphical showcase when it launched, and the title quickly became a favourite amongst players. Control Resonant’s shift to melee-focused combat is a major shift over the original. In many regards, this sequel will play differently to Control. That said, the game will retain the original’s focus on story and exploration.

Like the original, Control Resonant is a great-looking game. Unlike its predecessor, which launched on Xbox One and PS4, Resonant will only be available on current-generation consoles. Additionally, the game will be available on both Windows PC and Mac. On PC, the game will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. On Mac, the game will be available on Steam and the App Store.
