CPU-ID releases powerMAX - A new system stress test

CPU-ID has created a new PC stability test for Windows, a tool that is designed to maximise power draw and system thermals to allow users to test whether or not their PSU and system cooling can handle your system when its CPU and GPU are fully loaded simultaneously.

Please note that this test will reveal weaknesses in components and can potentially cause damage to VRMs on your motherboard/GPU and damage your PSU if your system. These issues should only arise when users use an inadequate power supply or attempt heavy overclocking on a sub-par VRM setup with insufficient cooling. CPU-ID is not liable for any damage this tool may cause.

What is (and what is not) powerMAX ?

powerMAX is a CPU and GPU burn-in test. It is aimed to maximize the power dissipation and the temperature of these two components. There are several ways to use powerMAX :

  • - CPU test : allows to check the CPU stability (in case of overclocking for example), and if the CPU cooling system does its job correctly.

  • - GPU test : same, but for GPU.

  • - CPU + GPU tests in the same time : maximizes the full system power consumption, and therefore ensures that the PSU can handle the peak power required by the CPU and GPU simultaneously.

powerMAX generates no performance or stability score, and therefore is not a benchmark.

!! Please use powerMAX at your own risks !!

powerMAX stresses your PC in such a way that it may reveal the weakness of some of the components, and cause non-reversible damage to mainboard VRMs, video card VRM, PSU, or any other component. For that reason, powerMAX has to be used at your entire responsibility and CPUID shall not be liable for any damage which may arise as a result of your use of powerMAX.

To be clear, this is a full system stability test, not a performance benchmark. This tool is designed to access system stability only, o only use this tool when necessary.

PowerMAX is available for Windows PCs in 64-bit and 32-bit variants here

the VGA is XFX radeon RX580 GTR Black edition and the OEM cooler is not enough so i won't test it. The Crew max settings can overheat it.Quote
