Creative Assembly release details about Total War: Warhammer 2's "Mortal Empires" campaign

After the game's initial launch on October 28th, Creative Assembly will be kitting out Total War: Warhammer II with their largest campaign map to date, merging both the old world and the new world together to create their epic "Mortal Empires" campaign, which will feature a total of 117 factions and 295 total settlements.

To put this into perspective, Total War Warhammer I features a total of 142 regions and 66 starting factions, with creative assembly fulling scaling this map so that everything fits perfectly together. Simply put, this is a unique campaign map, Creative Assembly didn't just staple together the maps of Total War Warhammer I and II together.

This DLC will be given to owners of both Total War Warhammer II for free, offering players the ability to play all of the factions that they own for both the games, including DLC factions if they own them. Sadly Norsca will not be in this campaign when it initially launches, though it will be added later.

We’ll be taking the iconic territory of the Old World you know from the first game and expanding outwards to the West, taking in key territories from Lustria, the Southlands, Naggaroth and Ulthuan to massively expand the playable area,

It’s not a straight stitch-‘n’-fit job, and it can’t be—the Old World and Eye of The Vortex campaign maps are designed to be standalone; they’re different shapes and don’t ‘fit together’.

Creative Assembly release details about Total War: Warhammer 2's

Creative Assembly has confirmed that all of the new features of Total War: Warhammer II will be included in this campaign, like rogue armies, treasure hunting,  sea encounters and climate suitability. Factions will no longer be limited to specific locations on the map like in original Total War: Warhammer, though certain areas will be more suitable to certain factions than others.

It has also been confirmed that Total War: Warhammer III will also have a crazy sized campaign map, which will add an even larger map to the game that contains the regions used in Total War: Warhammer II's sequel. Creative Assembly has not thought of a name for this epic-scale campaign map, only calling it "A Very Big Campaign" in their recent blog post. This campaign will only be available to owners of Total War: Warhammer I, II and III.
