Croteam reveals Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass for Windows, MacOS and Linux

Croteam has released an official teaser trailer for Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass, a new entry into the Serious Sam series which will offer a “brutally bigger scale” and release on Windows PC, MacOS and Linux.

While not much is known about the game, Croteam has stated that the game will not feature a single desert level with the game’s Steam listing noting the inclusion of online and split-screen co-op, cross-platform multiplayer, Steam workshop mod support and a level editor.

The game is set to be showcased at E3 2018 at the Devolver Digital conference, which will likely reveal the title’s release date and showcase large section so of gameplay for the title.

It is likely that Serious Sam 4 will support the Vulkan API on PC, with Croteam having already released Vulkan updates for every entry in the Serious Sam series so far, dropping support for DirectX 9 in the process while also adding multi-threaded rendering and 64-bit support.

With a PC release on multiple operating systems, it makes sense for Croteam to go all-in with Vulkan, especially after the release of MoltenVK, a tool which can translate Vulkan API calls to Metal API calls on MacOS. This tool allows Vulkan to support Windows, MacOS and Linux/SteamOS.
