Crysis Warhead deserves to be remastered

Come on Crytek, Psycho's story deserves an upgrade

I don't know about you, but Crysis Warhead is one of my favourite games in the Crysis franchise. Warhead takes what Crysis delivered, refined its gameplay, added new enemy types, and filled us in on what happened to Psycho during his absence during Crysis' campaign. Beyond that, Crysis Warhead featured graphical enhancements over Crysis and ran better on PCs than the original.

Currently, Crysis Warhead is the only game within the Crysis series that has not been remastered. Furthermore, it is the only game in the franchise that has remained PC exclusive, which means that console gamers have never gotten to play as Psycho as he completed his own mission on the other side of the occupied Lingshan Islands.

Crysis Warhead is a piece of Crysis history that has been largely ignored, despite the fact that the game's protagonist, Sergeant Michael "Psycho" Sykes, is on of the franchise's most long-lasting and beloved characters.

At launch, Crysis Warhead was praised for its improved gameplay, enhanced AI, and story pacing. However, like Crysis, the game's high hardware requirements were a common criticism. That said, those high system requirements from 2008 are not high by today's standard. Crysis Warhead's historical shortcomings are easily fixed by bringing the game to modern hardware. Crysis Warhead deserves to be remastered.

Everything else is remastered, why not Crysis Warhead?

As a PC-only game, Crysis Warhead requires a lot of changes if the game were to be remastered for PC and consoles. Gamepad support would be necessary, as would reworked controls. That said, Crysis has a console version, and the same control system could be used for Crysis Warhead, if implemented.

Crytek are currently working on Crysis 4, and it currently looks like the company has no plans to revisit Crysis Warhead. In my opinion, this is a shame, as Crysis Warhead does not deserve to be left behind like this. It would be great to see console players experience the entire Crysis franchise, and it would be great for PC gamers to be able to replay Crysis Warhead with a new lick of paint.

Crysis Warhead is a great game, and if Crysis 1-3 deserved to be remastered, Crysis Warhead deserves the same treatment.

It's the best game in the series. It refined the gameplay from the first one, like you said, unlike the dumbed down Crysis 2 and 3, which were designed primarily for consoles.Quote
