Cyberpunk 2077 finally receives FSR 3 support alongside other upscaler updates
Cyberpunk 2077 now supports FSR 3 and XeSS 1.3 – DLSS has also been updated
CD Projekt Red has released a new update for the PC version Cyberpunk 2077, adding AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) technology to the game. Additionally, this update also adds support for Intel’s XeSS 1.3 upscaler, and finally allows Nvidia’s DLSS Ray Reconstruction to be used with DLAA.
This update delivers on CD Projekt Red’s long-promised AMD FSR 3 support plans. These plans were revealed last year when AMD first launched FSR 3. Sadly, AMD’s FSR 3 Frame Generation feature will only be usable in-game alongside FSR upscaling. This means that FSR upscaling cannot be used alongside DLSS or XeSS. This oddity suggests that CD Projekt Red has not used the newest version of AMD’s resolution upscaling/frame generation technology, FSR 3.1. This is an odd decision from CD Projekt Red, as FSR 3.1 has quality advantages over FSR 3.0. On that topic, the newest version of Intel XeSS is XeSS 1.3.1, not 1.3.
Below are the update notes for Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.13:
Patch 2.13 for Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty is being rolled out! It includes support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 with Frame Generation. Please note that this update is PC-only!
Keep in mind that despite the version mismatch between PC and console, Cross Progression will still function properly.
For details, check out the list of changes below.
- Added support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 with Frame Generation. More information can be found in this article on the Support website.
- Added support for Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.3.
- It will now be possible to enable both DLAA and DLSS Ray Reconstruction at the same time.
- Added a new “Utilities” tab in Settings and moved HDD Mode, Hybrid CPU Utilization and AMD Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) options there.
- Other stability and visual fixes.
Cyberpunk 2077 now supports both FSR 2.1 and FSR 3.0 on PC. CD Projekt Red claims that this gives PC users “Flexibility”. However, FSR 3 is AMD’s newer upscaler, and should deliver higher-quality results in all circumstances. As such, it makes little sense to use FSR 2.1 over FSR 3.
