Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City Wire livestream has been postponed

CD Projekt Red was due to showcase Cyberpunk 2077 on June 11th by hosting an online event called “Night City Wire”. Now, this event has been delayed, with the Polish developer citing the US’ Black Lives Matter protests as the primary reason for the event’s postponement.

In their Tweet regarding this issue, CD Projekt Red stated that “we wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance and violence”, and that “more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard.”

The USA’s ongoing Black Live Matter protests that are taking place across the US. These protests were sparked after the death of George Floyd, who was needlessly killed by a police officer in Minneapolis. This event was recorded by passers-by, who were concerned about what they had witnessed. This event was one of many, and now the voices of American minorities are demanding to be heard.

More information about George Floyd’s death and the US’ mass protests is available via the BBC.

Sony has already delayed its “The Future of Gaming” PlayStation 5 reveal event due to the protests, and IGN has made a similar move by shifting its “Summer of Gaming” main event from June 5th to June 8th.

At CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 event, gamers will likely be shown large sections of CyberPunk 2077 gameplay, which will come from a near-final version of the game. Cyberpunk 2077 is due to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Stadia on September 17th 2020.
