Darksiders 2 is getting a free Ray Tracing update on PC

Darksiders 2 is getting a free PC update when the new PS5/Xbox Series X/S version launches

THQ Nordic has announced that Darksiders 2 is getting a new “Deathinitive Edition” for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. In the game’s announcement trailer below, a PC version of this new edition was also revealed, with a release date of October 15th.

This new version of Darksiders 2 will benefit from the capabilities of modern consoles. This includes 4K resolution, enhanced lighting/shadows, and ray tracing effects. Thanks to “SSD technology,” loading times are also said to be dramatically reduced. This update will be free for existing game owners on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Since PC gamers can already benefit from SSD technology and 4K resolutions, Darksiders 2’s new version is expected to deliver gamers improved lighting, shadows, and new ray tracing effects. Sadly, the nature of these ray-tracing effects has not been specified.

This upgraded edition of the beloved action-adventure brings 4K resolution, ray tracing, and enhanced lighting and shadows to harness the power of today’s consoles. If you’re playing on PlayStation 5 with a DualSense controller, you’ll also get to experience the full impact of haptic feedback, adding extra depth and immersion to every strike as Death. The game’s loading times have been drastically improved thanks to SSD technology, ensuring a smoother experience overall.

Sadly, this new trailer for Darksiders 2’s new Deathinitive Edition is short, making it hard to get a proper look at the game’s visual improvements. Even so, a free upgrade is always welcome, especially for a classic like Darksiders 2.
