Days Gone Remastered is coming to PC and PlayStation 5

Days Gone Remastered is coming, and PC gamers can safely ignore it

Sony has officially revealed Days Gone Remastered, a new PlayStation 5/PlayStation 5 Pro version of the 2019 PlayStation 4 classic. The game will be coming to PlayStation 5 on April 25th, and its new content will be coming to PC on the same day.

So is the PC version of Days Gone getting remastered? Yes and no. Yes, the game’s new “Remastered Content” is coming to PC through a new DLC called “Broken Road.” However, Sony has promised none of the graphical upgrades that the game will get on PlayStation 5.

PC gamers aren’t getting a full remaster

On PlayStation 5, Sony has promised “improved graphical fidelity, increased foliage draw distance, improved shadow and lighting quality, Tempest 3D Audio, VRR support and more.” Basically, these upgrades sound a lot like what Days Gone’s PC version already delivers. As of now, Sony has promised no visual upgrades for PC gamers, just new DLC content.

Below is what Sony plans to add to Days Gone’s PC version.

  • Horde Assault – A survival arcade mode
  • Permadeath mode
  • Speedrun mode
  • DualSense haptic feedback support
  • New Accessibility features
  • Enhanced Photo Mode

PC Gamers can safely ignore Days Gone Remastered/Broken Road

For PC gamers, Sony has promised little of value with Days Gone’s “Broken Road” DLC. For $10, gamers can get a few extra modes and DualSense haptic feedback support. Honestly, the DualSense support should have been a free add-on. Furthermore, there is a lot of simple things that Sony could do to improve the game’s PC version. DLSS, FSR, and XeSS support would be welcome. Some higher graphical options would also be appreciated by high-end PC users.

Simply put, PC gamers are an afterthought with Days Gone Remastered. At least Sony was honest and didn’t call it a remaster on PC.
